Inspired to Care, Moved to Act.

Not only is this a fundraising walk it will be powerful and reflective experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.
Walk in the Spirit also known as the Everald Walk, is a charity event run by Dorcas ACTS. The 5 October 2026 event will be a very special WITS Walker event located at the spiritual centre of Australia, Uluru.
The event will be led by Everald and Helen Compton in celebration of Everald’s 95th birthday. Around 100 WITS Walkers are expected at Uluru, with many more walking in local neighbourhoods. We are aiming to raise $100,000. We urge you to get involved by either registering as a WITS Walker or a WITS Volunteer.

Event Summary

The Walk in the Spirit 2026 event is a nationwide charity initiative centred on a flagship 11 km walk around Uluru on Monday, 5 October 2026. The Event is organised by Dorcas ACTS crisis charity and will be a recurring annual/biennial event.

Philanthropists Everald and Helen Compton will celebrate Everald’s 95th birthday by leading an expected 100 WITS Walkers at Uluru.  An Indigenous elder will present a cultural talk at the pre-event formal dinner.

In addition to the Uluru trek, the campaign includes local neighbourhood walks across Australia, with a target of 1,000 WITS Walkers nationwide. The Dorcas ACTS committee will lead and run the local Aspley/Chermside (Qld) Walk.

Get involved by registering as a WITS Walker today.  These walks are inclusive, eligibility is 5 to 105 years old with walk distance options of 3km, 5km and 11kms.

Walk In The Spirit is more than a symbolic walk — it is a fundraising walk supporting the crisis relief work of Dorcas ACTS. Each Walker is asked to set a personal donation target and invite family, friends, colleagues, and community contacts to sponsor their walk.

When making a donation to WITS, donors are asked to nominate the walker they are supporting.

The event’s purpose is to raise funds for Dorcas ACTS, a charity founded to provide emergency financial support to people in crisis anywhere in Australia. Crisis includes fire, flood, drought, domestic violence, etc. Dorcas ACTS is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and 100% donations go directly to those in need. So please give generously!

Walk in the Spirit

In varying ways and at different times they choose to adopt Jesus the Man as their role model and try to walk with him, each in their own personal way, to help create a better world. You will be inspired and entertained by the way they meet many challenges and obstacles along the way, especially from fundamentalists with closed minds.

Walking With The Man

Catching the Linville Train tells the story of his life experiences, all since his first train journey from his home village of Linville in the Brisbane River Valley way back in 1937.

Catching The Linville Train

Everald Compton first went to church ninety-three years ago when his mother Thelma took him with her to the Linville Methodists when he was just three weeks old. He has attended churches around the world on most Sundays ever since.
